Fitness training, often referred to as 'canine conditioning', can be so beneficial for our dogs in just the same way as it is for us. We can help our dogs to learn how to properly use their bodies; building strength and supporting them as they take part in normal activity as well as sports such as canicross and agility.
Whilst we can express when something hurts, and exactly where, our dogs can't. By working on fitness and conditioning with them, we can learn to spot those more subtle signs that something isn't quite right. This can be very useful when it comes to expressing concerns to professionals such as vets or physiotherapists.
Finally, and quite importantly, many dogs really enjoy fitness work!

Sara has been involved in training dogs for over 25 years. Whilst initially she was involved in agility, she has expanded her skills and knowledge extensively over the years. Her particular passions include foundations, reinforcement strategies and scentwork.
Sara is a qualified canine hydrotherapist and Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer (CPCFT).
Her training philosophy is best described as ‘Do No Harm’, and focuses on positive reinforcement-based training that is adapted to each learner. She aims to apply this to both people and dogs.
Sara is ably assisted in all her training by Ripley, a seven-year old working cocker spaniel. He is a big reason that she has significantly developed her training skills over the last few years! She has recently been joined by Peak, an English springer spaniel puppy. He is reigniting her love of teaching foundations, and is busy learning All The Things!
